The Project's Cash Flow Report Walkthrough

In this video, I will walk you through the Project Cash Flow report. This report shows how money moves in and out of your project over time.

The Cash Flow report answers three critical questions: How much cash came into the project? How much cash went out? And how much cash is available right now?

Unlike cost reports, the Cash Flow report only reflects actual cash movement, not accounting balances or budget commitments.

The report is typically broken down into three sections:

  • Inflow: This includes fund receipts, investor contributions, advances, and reimbursements.
  • Outflow: This includes payroll payments, vendor payments, and petty cash expenses.
  • Balance: This shows the remaining balance in each timeline to the latest date.

It is important to note that you do not enter data directly into the Cash Flow report. Instead, it is generated automatically from reconciled payments and receipts. When funds, costs, and reports all align, your project stays financially under control.

You can use the Date Range filter to view cash movement for specific periods, such as a month or week. Finally, you can Export the Cash Flow report to Excel or CSV for further analysis.
