How to Create and Calculate Global Values
In this video, I will show you how to set up a global.
Think of these as any repetitive numbers in your budget, as in your total shoot days or prep days. You set these here, so if you need to change the shoot days from 25 to 24, you change it here, and it updates all throughout the budget instead of you having to do this on every single line.
First, we are going to go to the Globals menu and click ‘Create Global’.
Let’s create one for Prep Days. We will type ‘PD’ for the name, and ‘Prep Days’ for the description, enter ’10’ for the value, and select ‘Days’ for the unit.
Next, let’s create one for Shoot Days. Type ‘SD’, ‘Shoot Days’, ’20’, and ‘Days’.
Then, create one for Wrap Days. Type ‘WD’, ‘Wrap Days’, ‘5’, and ‘Days’.
Now, you can also combine these globals for a combined value, like Total Work Days. Type ‘TWD’, ‘Total Work Days’, and in the calculation field, and type the names with + signs between them. This automatically combines the values, as you can see here.
